Cocopelli’s 20-Year Celebration

A community favourite since 2005 – and we’re just getting started.

For many locals, Cocopelli isn’t just a place to eat – it’s where life has unfolded over the past two decades. From first dates and anniversaries to when it became a makeshift nightclub after the Christchurch earthquakes, the restaurant has remained a mainstay of dining in a city that’s seen plenty of change.

To celebrate 20 years, Cocopelli is hosting an anniversary event on Saturday, November 8, featuring a live DJ (a familiar face from those post-quake nights), a pizza-eating contest, spin-the-wheel prizes, and free anniversary T-shirts for the first 100 guests. There’s even a special giveaway — a $300 Mount Gay rum cooler bin — as a thank you to the customers and community who’ve supported Cocopelli through every chapter.

After two decades of pizza, people, and passion, Cocopelli remains what it has always been: a place where everyone feels welcome, where good food brings people together, and where every slice tells a story.

This November, DJ Tommy Dreamer returns for one night only — spinning the same energy that kept Christchurch dancing through it all.
